About Recovery Support Centres
Gerald Haslinger is the principal psychologist in the Highlands Recovery Support Centre. Gerald has been working with people in private practice since 2014 and brings nearly twenty years of experience working in corporate roles and over a decade working in the mental health sector to the therapy room.
Skills gained from training with and volunteering for Lifeline, other not-for-profit organisations, delivering mental health training programs as well as personal experience have provided him with a high level of empathy for anybody struggling with a mental health issue.
The areas of focus for Gerald’s practice are:
- Helping men with mental health issues.
- Assisting parents in their challenging role as guardians to little people in their life.
- Supporting individuals with a wide range of weight management issues, working with local dieticians and nutritionists to help people in adopting a healthier food lifestyle (accredited by the Australian Centre For Eating Disorders).
Whilst he is skilled at utilising a range of approaches, he primarily focuses on a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) approach and is currently pursuing accreditation as a Schema Therapist through the Schema Therapy Centre of NSW.
Gerald is dedicated to working with men but has worked successfully with a broad range of people experiencing challenges relating to grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addiction, parenting challenges and weight management.
